The listing, ANTIQUE 10K GOLD CUFF LINK has ended.
Very, very old!!! Belonged to my great, great grandfather. the cufflink is 10k gold that you can read with a magnifing glass. It has little designs all over it.
It is old antique. I had to use a magnafying glass to see the 10k gold label. I do know 10k is less gold than 24k. There are some small letters and inscriptioned designs on it. Very pretty!!!
The pin bears the makers mark on the back, the letter B in a Star. This is the mark of B. A. Ballou and Company of Providence, RI, established 1876, and remarkably, still in business today. The Ballou Company is listed as “Manufacturers of gold and rolled plate jewelry with specialties and jewelers' findings”. They have always been noted for the high quality of their work.
They are called lingerie pins because they where often used to keep undergarments in place, in those days ladies had several layers of undergarments and these helped keep them from twisting of peaking out :)
