The listing, !!!!BEAUTIFUL 10K AQUAMARINE RING!!!! has ended.
This is another one of my "rescues", lol, It was bent up, shank broken and missing the stone, so I turned it into a Beautiful 10k Aquamarine Ring, hallmarked 10k, size 7
Thank you :), I am a Jewelry artist and try and rescue jewelry from being melted down for the gold, I try and fix them and sometimes share the items I have repaired with my friends here on Listia :)
I have started the same endvour. I'm getting better. Don't crush the stones anymore!! LOL oh the first time I dd I cried. So I have become friendly with the mohs scale and what stone, and hw much pressure. I gotta say, some of my things come out awful dang good!!! The rocks are in there too. Jasper, quartz pendulems. We are going on vacation in a couple weeks and we are going where they have lot's of stones. I can't mine because my foot is messed up and can't walk on it, but I can buy somebody elses stones. They're under my spell when they are mine! haha I'm glad there is someoone like you to rescue instead of toss. thanx for the auction also. I'm bidding on this it is my little boys birthstond, and I don't have any of those yet!! TTFN Michele
That is great, another thing that is helpful is to know the growth structure and type classification of the stone, some stones may have a high hardness, a good example is emerald it is 7.5 to 8 on the mohs scale, however it is a type 3 gemstone, tends to have a lot of fractures and is very brittle, put one in an ultrasonic cleaner and you will get lots of tiny pieces, lol, keep up the good work :)
Yea, just read the other day about th machine that cleans jewelry. I neve realized. I also kno you better not be putting opal s into any cleaning solutions!! I use toothe paste and soft brush LOL
Oh, never use toothpaste, it has micro abrasives that will scratch the protective polish layer on gemstones, the best is a little bit of dawn, soak the jewelry in warm water with a table spoon of ammonia and a few drops of dawn dish soap to 2 cups of water for a little while and then scrub it with a soft toothbrush :)
