This is a set of 2 handmade Raggedy Ann & Andy soft stuffed dolls made of cotton woven muslin fabric with real yarn hand-sewn hair. They measure about 23" tall. Someone took a lot of time making these dolls which I am guessing probably date from 30-35 years ago. These dolls came together as a set when I acquired them, and they both have matching fabric in their clothing besides looking almost alike. They have hand-embroidered eyebrows, eyelashes, and part of the mouth, then the red center mouths and noses are appliqued red felt. Their eyes are just glued-on google eyes, but if you prefer embroidered eyes, these could be popped-off and embroidery added in their place. The dolls are in very good condition other than a 1" area at the seam where Ann's leg joins her body that has pulled loose at the stitching (probably sewn too close to the fabric's edge) needs to be tucked back into the seam and resewn. There are a couple of tiny holes at the seam of Ann's left leg at the back seam. Otherwise, the fabric of the dolls is in great condition overall as if these dolls were made then sat out for display. However, I have not tried to clean them in any way since I acquired them, and I don't know their history as there is some yellowing to the exposed parts of the white fabric. I don't know if this is from being in a smoking home or just age, but I would guess a good cleaning, perhaps machine-washed on gentle cycle inside a washing bag or pillowcase, might clear this up. They have been stored in my smoke-free and dry storage building for about 10 years, so they mostly smell a little "stale" to me. Their clothing has Velcro back closures but real buttons sewn on. Andy's outfit is one-piece with a collar and ribbon bow tie. Ann has a calico dress that matches Andy's bodice with lace trim and a white apron pinafore with back ties and hemline embroidery stitching. This would be a great set of matching dolls for the collector or to give to a child. Buyer pays shipping on 2-3 lbs.
