The listing, Barbara Steisand CD new has ended.
new cd,still in plastic wrap, given to me,don't like artist, record date 1997 titled "higher ground" winning bidder pays shipping only ups or postal service COD or prepay money order or check.
Please let me know if you do get Paypal. The fee for a postal money order would cost almost as much as the postage to mail this. And COD is REALLY a hassle - I don't know if anyone really uses that anymore. Likewise, using UPS for such a lightweight item would be cost-prohibitive.
I am in the process of setting up pay pal on a new bank account, but this has been real time consuming, because I had to register with pay pal, read all their disclaimers and fees, etc. in addition to setting up my online banking at the local bank that was and is still in progress as I have to wait untill they are open again to confirm my identity after filling out a million questions on line and being led to believe it could all be done online at home on my weekend! In my area a money order only costs 25 cents at my local superstore and to ship priority parcel post less than 5$ depending on whether it is a flat rate box or padded envelope,so who would ship a cd with UPS? In addition paypals rules as to who pays the fees when the paypal account is linked to an account or debit card, etc. are not explained as clearly as the rest of their info on their otherwise good site. I am still a bit confused as to who pays their % plus $0.30 the buyer or seller,as they term it as sender, any way I will have to charge you the USPS amount (probably a couple of bucks) +the cost of large padded envelope and untill I get the hang of this pay pal fee situation probably the 0.30 fee,I don't see how they can charge a % when there is no $ being exchanged between parties involved just shipping costs! again this was very unclear in their window explaining fees. Not to mention the time and hassle of reading all their disclaimers, etc, But I guess I only have to go thru the hassle once and then it is downhill (hopefully) from there. And now I will be able to pay for shipping,e-bay,etc. with pay pal,so.......
That DOES seem like a lot of trouble. Paypal USED to be pretty easy to sign up. Once you are signed up, you can have money sent to you without anyone being charged a fee IF it is sent as a personal gift or payment owed, which seems correct because it is owed for POSTAGE and not for any goods (because you are giving those away free on Listia.) The only proviso is that the sender has to be sending it from their bank account (which they usually are) rather than using a credit card.
yeah the relationship between the banks, credit card companies, the differences between a paypal from a bank account and paypal from a debit card, not to mention a paypal payment from a credit card could keep an army of lawyers and accountants busy for quite a while,I just want to enjoy life, not have to wade thru a wasp nest of financial terminology, now if we could just persuade the banks and govt. (they are getting to be practically the same anyway) to allow post office checking account payments like they have in mainland Europe,we wouldn't have to worry about all this stuff.....nah that would be too easy......
FYI: I just mailed a CD in jewel case to the winning bidder of one of my auctions. I used a 7 x 9 inch padded envelope which I recycled by removing/covering the previous address so there was no cost for the envelope. I sent it FIRST CLASS mail and the total cost was $1.90 to anywhere in the USA. If I didn't already have that envelope, I could have made one from paper and packing tape, after padding the CD in several thicknesses of newspaper (recycling it & free.)
