here is a weird ooak pocket mirror it has a picture of a victorian post mortem baby on ones side mirror on other the pic shows you the front and the back it is about 2 and ahalf inches x 2 inches very need and a conversation piece for sure thanks for looking any questions just ask

It's typical momento mori. It's supposed to help people realize their own mortality. During the Victorian times there was a high infant death rate so this would be a good example of the only picture the family would have of this child. I have alot of medicine bottles, a few animal skulls, a 1940's doctor syringe, and a German music box that plays by itself occasionally.

victorian post morteum pics of kids always make me sad some....poor kids. i can understand the concept and that they had different attitudes of death back then, but the kid ones.... poor kids.
