Hard to explain, your best bet is to look it up online honestly. All I can tell you is that it is a Game Enhancer for the original PS.

It's not hard to explain at all. It's a cheat device for PS that plugs into the IO port in the back of early model PS. It's a must for people who like to play with the debug rooms in RPGS like Final Fantasy VII and VIII as you need to turn the GS off in order to enter the rooms and this is impossible to do with later CD based versions of the Gameshark.

Great device, though I mostly just play my PS1 games through emulators now. It's way more fun to play PS1 games on a laptop or other portable device. ;)
