Is the original string secure? I was thinking what if one is out in public and the string breaks and the beads go everywhere? That would not be good so just wondering how secure the original string is?

It is fairly secure. Would take a lot for it to break. My gf had one break but did not lose any beads. I would suggest maybe restringing it right away to avoid that happening. Very easy to restring and I'll add the correct non breakable long lasting stretching string along with it.
