no it takes 3 AAA batteries. they last a long time in this camera..unlike others i have had.

I never had any problem with it., the ONLY reason I am selling it, is because my daughter bought me a new one for a gift.. a lot of my auction pictures were taken with this camera back in December , All are stored on my computer..which are the pictures you see..
