Man I wish I had known about these! My Manx cats clawed my daughter in the eye requiring stitches!

this really happened. true story. i got 5 kids. all 5 had been around cats since they were babies, never any probs cats getting in face smothering baby etc like we've all heard on the news. my last baby summer who will b 6 in july. had been playing on the trampoline @ 13 months old with our kittens we had. she wasn't unattended dad n i were right there. she got scratched by 1 the kittens. not a nasty large scratch just a small tiny kitty claw mark. l8r that day she started running a very high temp that we could not control with ibuprofen or tylenol. we took her 2 pawnee memorial hospital in pawnee city nebraska. there r not catheders 4 babies thart small so with a baby feeding tube they tryed to get urine 2 c if something urinary was causing the fever. after bout 20 mins her crotch was red n swollen n the doctor gave up. seemed like hours. they then tryed getting blood sample n after what seeemed like a dozen or more pokes in odd places they stuck a rubber band so tight around her head it looked like her eyes were gonna pop out n they got blood from near her temples. we were sent home told it was prolly viral n needed to run it's course. switch back n forth ibuprofen n tylenol to control temp so she can have the meds more frequent. next day still could not keep fever down n returned to emergency room. since they still could not figure it out we were sent to lincoln hospital 2 hour drive 1 way. they agreed viral take her home n let it run it's course. l8r that day she went down for a nap, when she woke crying i went in n got her in the darkened room. i brought her 2 the living room carrying her face over the shoulder n could smell she had done a number 2. when i layed her on the carpeted floor to begin changin her i screamed, her face was swollen in an odd shape. her cheek from lower jaw was swelled as far out 2 her shoulder. dan, her father turned to see what was going on. right away every1 headed to the car.

i held her in my lap against my chest fearing to look at her face, 2 older kids in the back. dan driving. dan was going a 100 miles an hour when a cop saw us n started following us with his lights on. when we got to the hospital i got out n ran to the emergency door with my summer. i was screamin my babys turning mutant. dan was warned from the cops but no ticket. the cop said he could tell by dan using his blinkers something was going on n he decided to follow rather than persue to stop. anyway now we really had the doctors attention but again they did not know what was wrong n we were sent by ambulance to lincoln again. after what seemed an eternity, really bout 4 hours they started pumping high amounts of penecillian into summer through an iv. n told us she had cat scratch fever. i always thought that was only a song. it's not. it is very real n can b deadly as it comes about so fast n strong. i never knew about these nail things here or maybe i'd still have a cat. but we got rid our cats n now have birds. i urge any1 with children n cats/kittens to own these. if u saw what i saw n went thru what we went thru this is no laughing matter or nothing to be taken lightly.

I know how you feel I to had cat scratch fever my wrist where I was scratch years ago is still slightly raised and scared from it.
