Well, lots of times you can tell by the mark.....if it is real blurry it is usually not sterling. But I guess you need the acid test or if you got it new was the seller reliable and did they claim it was sterling? Or was it from China or less than $20 new? That's how I usually assume when I'm uncertain ;D
