Questions & Comments
Furthermore, some states prohibit the use of wording such as Police, Peace Officer, Agent, Limited Peace Officer and the like on any badge, patch or insiginia portraying private security...period. The only exception is if that officer is a duly sworn, commisioned officer that has been P.O.S.T. Certfied and then, the word Police and the like must be have the words Security or Special in front of that word, because those types of commissioned offficers have very limiited police powers.
Federal Officer, this badge can be used in a private security capacity providing that the state that it is being used in so approves of that badge, some states highly dictate the styling of the badge as well as the wording of the badge. My purpose for owning such a badge is not for the purpose of flashing the badge at random but rather to display when asked what I do for a living,my company outfits our uniforms with a patch in place of an actual metal shield, while this is in compliance with state uniform regulations, other items used that are issued such as a rain coat, the state requires that something that identifies what we are,be displayed in the upper left hand area where a badge tab is generally located...this and the other aforementioned reason is the only reason i am considering ownership of this shield.
I am a Federal Officer and I'm wondering how anyone can legally use this badge for their job? Doesn't the company you work for provide you with a LEGITIMATE badge? This seems like a bad idea to me that people want to use this for anything but dress up...hmmmm. lol
i agree that this is not good to have. an actual officer (dirty or not) would have their own badge and sounds like someone working pretty hard to get this. i don't believe it should be allowed. people need to consider what they are actually posting for auctions here and on any other auction site. i have no problem with lister just the potential for problems stemming from it. anyway. Welcome to LISTIA!
hasn't anyone ever heard of dirty cops who needs a badge like this when we have to be concerned about them so one badge is good as another in my book they aren't s**t
I can appreciate Federal Officer's concern on this, there are people who have access to security equipment and use them to lead people to believe that they are duly sworn officers, most websites that sells this type of equipment does not verify whether the purchaser is a true certified security officer.
