A very high quality Ancient Greek Silver Drachm of Alexander the Great, dating to 336-323 B.C.

With well struck, powerful portrait of Herakles wearing the lion-skin on the obverse and a seated figure of Zeus on the reverse, with legend "ALEXANDROU" - Of Alexander. Zeus holds a staff in his left hand and an Eagle in his right.

Alexander III of Macedon (20/21 July 356 – 10/11 June 323 BC), commonly known as Alexander the Great , was a king of Macedon, a state in northern ancient Greece. Born in Pella in 356 BC, Alexander was tutored by Aristotle until the age of 16. By the age of thirty, he had created one of the largest empires of the ancient world, stretching from the Ionian Sea to the Himalayas. He was undefeated in battle and is considered one of history's most successful commanders

Please read what NatureLovinPagan said and it is true! Not all Copies have COPY on them!!! There are many Authentic Looking coins that are actually copies! My Son And I have collected coins for over 40 plus years! There are COINS That Are COPIES And DO NOT HAVE COPY ON THEM! The Coin here does appear REAL, my son has a one! Warmly, barbie

Thanks for the comment - so far this coin is stationed in my Indian coin album, as Punjab was the farthest point where he reached, and had Battle of the Hydaspes there. There is not such monument related to Alexander present in Indian Punjab.

Thanks for bringing out your concerns. Being a coin collector for last 30 years, I know how ancient silver coins looks like, and its possible to authenticate coins, by paying to some companies (Off course I never did that, besides having albums full of such ancient coins, because I think that's costly for me). I am listing this coin because I am willing to share what I have more than one in my collection.
