This is a beautiful antique book with fine binding assumed to have been published around 1919. It is entitled "The Return of the Native" by Thomas Hardy, with decorated boards and endpapers, possibly leather binding at the spine (can't tell), and gold gilt labeling, published by Pocket Books with 463 pages.

More recent publications of this vintage book are more common, but early fine bound editions such as this "Collector's Edition" are rare.

Although its undated, I found a book that looked virtually identical from 1919, but it was published in the UK, so this is likely from the same approximate time period (see link below):

There is some light edge wear to the cover with mild residue in one corner, as shown, but otherwise in very good solid clean condition. It is still entirely bound with the pages clean, bright, readable without apparent markings or tears. It would make a great additional to an old and rare book collector's library.
