This coin was part of a set from the Royal Canadian Mint that was sold from 1973 through 1976 to help finance and commemorate the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games.
It was a part of series 3 and was actually minted and sold in 1974. It is 92.5% Silver and weighs in at .7227 Troy Ounce with it being 5 Dollars in face value. The set included 28 Silver Coins and 2 Gold Coins.
The finish on the coin is a a satin or frosted effect which had never before been used on Canadian Coins, with the $5 denomination being a first as well.
