Description

The listing, Redbud 'Judas Tree" Seeds! Incredibly Awesome Spring Flowering Tree! has ended.

This auction is for 10 seeds from my Redbud tree! My tree is 8 years old and every year it gets bigger and more beautiful than the year before!
The Redbud tree, sometimes referred to as the Judas tree, is found in the entire Eastern United States. Also called the Eastern Redbud, it has a lifespan of about twenty years.
Habitat
The Redbud tree prefers deep, moist soil that is well drained. Mainly found growing in under-story of woodlands. The Redbud often grows at a slant as it reaches for sunlight.
Size
The Redbud tree grows to a mature height of 15 to 30 feet tall. It has a canopy spread of 10 to 20 feet, with a trunk measuring from 6 to 10 inches in diameter.
Leaves
The leaves of the Redbud tree are alternate and heart shaped. They are smooth on the edges and smooth in texture.
Fruit
The Redbud tree bears a bean shaped pod in late spring. The bean contains numerous small black to dark brown seeds.
Fun Fact
The Redbud tree actually belongs to the pea family. The Honeylocust, Wisteria, and the Kentucky Coffee Tree are also relatives of the Redbud.
The purple pink flowers of the eastern redbud appear all over the tree in early spring. The flowers are even produced on large trunks. Redbud has a yellow fall color and is shade tolerant.

Here's what I know about them. I think as long as you water it when it's hot and dry out, it should do fine!

Plant your redbud tree in a full-sun to partial-shade location. As long as the ground is not frozen or it is not very hot and dry, you can plant this tree. Don't plant it in a gully or indented location in the landscape, as it does not do well when its roots are bogged with water.

Grow the redbud tree in just about any type of soil, as long as it is not soggy with standing water. Water to keep the soil moist. Depending on your location's climate, this may only be occasionally. Check more often when you have a dry, hot spell. Place mulch around the bottom of the trunk, to keep moisture in the soil around the roots.

I hope this helps, Trebor62
