Sorry-not done- The nigari mixed with water curdles the soymilk just like rennet does cheese. You then put it in a cheesecloth lined tofu press, anress until its the desired firmness. I've always wanted a real one. I made one out of tupperware that I punched full of small holes on the bottom, then took the lid aand cut off the edges so that it just barely fit inside. Once the tofu was in, I put the lid on, set it in the dinkk with a can for a weight

Thank you so much! I'm actually new to tofu myself, and this press has helped me out SO much, really! I'm including a recipe booklet with it, with super easy recipes for Egg rolls with tofu, Pesto tofu, pizza bites with tofu, and even macaroons with it (tastes GREAT!). Tofu has a ton of vitamins, including B Vitamins, potassium, and many more. The flavor isn't very strong, but you can use it in a variety of dishes, anywhere from egg rolls to macaroons, haha! Hope you bid =]

Hi! It's actually a tofu press, so you can just buy any kind of tofu and with this press, you can make it very firm, which makes pretty much every dish so much better =]
It does have a recipe booklet with it, so it tells you how to make a few things. Hope that helps! Also, check them out online where I bought it off; www.tofuxpress.com

Tofu fan here I made a tofu press that I used after I curdled the soymilk I made out of soybeans and water. I then added a salt-like substance I got at a Japanese supermarket. I'm sure you can find it online now if you don't live in Califoria. Its called nigari

Do a google on how to make tofu. It takes time but it very easy. You don't need to buy anything special to make tofu. Soybeans, epsom salt and water. You need cheese cloth and a colander with tiny holes or a sieve to press the curds after you boil them. To mash them you can use a blender or processer. Do a google, I've been making it for years. I grow my own soybeans as well. Let me know if you can't find soybeans to plant and I'll hook you up. **They are easy to grow as well

Epsom salt works, but I like the taste of nigari.. I also like the shape of the square tupperware I'm using rather than a colander, although that would work just fine. I do a lot of Japanese recipes that call for cubes and slices, and the round shape of a colander wouldn't work as well. Notice the shape of the press that is being auctioned here. Perfect. NormaJean1 is right, making tofu is easy. I buy soybeans from a health food store, or get them from my father-in-law when we visit. He grows them, but lives halfway across the country. The fresher the beans, the better the tofu.
