*To those who are wondering, this is NOT an OFFICIAL Apple Brand product. I have no way to know that for sure as it looks and works exactly the same as the cord my iPod Touch came with brand new, but I'm ASSUMING that if it were direct from Apple, It would cost at least $10 or more and I do not pay that much for it. I put the word "Apple" in the description for search purposes. So my answer to the people asking if this is an official Apple Brand product is NO, It's generic. But I assure you that the functionality and cosmetics of this generic product and the one that comes brand new with apple products is just the same. Feel free to ask if you have anymore questions about this item.*

I've been asked this question 3 times now so I think I will start to add the fact in my listings for this particular item. Here is the answer copied and pasted from where I was asked the same question in my last listing today:

Good question. It LOOKS and works exactly like the apple product you'd get direct from apple (i know because i have an iPod) but I don't think that it is, otherwise I wouldn't be able to buy it for as little as I do. I've had some success with generic stuff but with Apple I try to buy genuine.

Apple more than any other company that I've ever seen engineers their stuff in a way that can render generic accessories useless without warning.

I completely understand. I try to stay genuine for the most part as well. For example I would never use a nongenuine power adapter that actually goes into the outlet. I had a friend that used one of those on her last ipod and within 2 charges it just stopped working out of nowhere after having no problems for over a year. I think it might've been incompatibility in voltage etc messing up the battery. But I've used this same usb cord as an extra on my last iPod touches Generation 1-4....So I can't speak for use with other Apple products but I've had absolutely no issues with using a generic usb cord for my touches in the past years.....That's all I can say about that.....Also you didn't miss the comment in the listing, I added it after seeing your question because you are the third person who has asked about it in the 4 listings like this that I've had so thought it was worth it to just go ahead and add it to the listing. kind of like an FAQ.
