Description

The listing, 2 TB (2000 GB) Western Digital SATA Hard Drive - 3.5" Desktop HD has ended.

This listing is for a 3.5" (Desktop) Western Digital Caviar Green 2.0TB SATA Hard Drive / 64MB Cache. This is basically a brand new hard drive. The date on it is May 17, 2011. This was purchased late last year and put in a computer that already had 6 TB of hard drive space, but hasn't actually been used to store anything on yet. It has been pulled from the PC it was originally added to for a couple of months now.
This is an awesomely huge hard drive, for those that do not know...2 TeraBytes (TB) = 2,000 GigaBytes (GB) = 2,000,000 MegaBytes (MB).

Just to give an idea of how much this hard drive can store, here are some examples:
DSLR Professional Pics (Average 8MB each) ~ 262,144
Digital Camera Pics (Average 5MB each) ~ 419,430
Songs (Average 4MB each) ~ 524,288
Please keep in mind these are estimated file sizes and average numbers...again this is just to give an idea of how much it can hold.

Actual Specs:
2.0TB SATA / 64MB Cache
S/N : WMAZA4652521
MDL: WD20EARS-00MVWB0

They are great hard drives. I have another one identical to it. Haven't decided whether or not to list it yet. That however will probably depend on what this one brings.

Could you try to include the original receipt? According to people on newegg, this hard drive dies after 18 months often but has at least 4 years on the warranty if they have a receipt. If you ordered it online, you could easily print out the receipt from your email.

Sorry but I do not have the receipt, this was bought in a store. However when I look up warranty status on it through WD website...it has a warranty until 6/20/2014.

I agree 100% with building your own system. I have been building/repairing/learning computers for 18 years now. I started modifying my first desktop in 1994 when I was 14. It has become a career for me and I love it. Knowing exactly what you have and having exactly what you want in your PC is in my opinion better than any factory built system out there. Thanks!

You are correct that it is a 3.5" hard drive, the Playstation 3 on the other hand uses a 2.5" laptop hard drive. This will not work in a PS3. However, upgrading the hard drive in a PS3 is simple procedure.
1 - Replace the hard drive and Reboot.
2 - It will either reinstall the software on its own or ask you to supply it with a firmware version higher than 3.56...
3 - If it installs on its own...you are ready to go
If it asks you for the firmware...you can download the latest PS3 firmware from Sony's website and copy it onto a USB flash drive, insert in the PS3 and restart and follow instructions on screen.
Just to give you a heads up, I have a Western Digital 2.5" 160GB Sata laptop hard drive that after I do some testing to confirm that it is good, will be listed on here as well. It's no 2TB for sure, but it's better than the small hard drives that come in the PS3 and it will work with it.

For those that don't know the 'Green' designation on WD drives just means it doesn't suck as much power as non 'Green' hdds. That means a lower power bill.
