The listing, Turquoise Necklace has ended.
Almost 20 inch Turquoise Necklace. According to ancient Egyptians, turquoise safeguarded good health and wellness. The Mayans considered turquoise more precious than gold.. New condition.
kind of a naive q&a? without insulting anyone, this is probably treated and cultured turquoise, like did you know 95% of jade in china is bleached, purified and heated? the guys have been doing it for centuries, lots of attention recently trickled on rare earth metals, try not to look like a barbaric westerner when your curiosity gets the best of you...i've asked health authorities to check the same concern a while ago, i would not want beautiful people to wrap lead toys around their necks either......the metal appears to be tibetan silver, i have not obtained a verifiable metallurgical laboratory test report on the exact metal contents, if you care to conduct one feel free to do so (let me know the results please) oh....i have a guarded optimistic view on the role chinese industry regulators are playing in the worldwide gem industry...unless otherwise ipso facto news to the contrary arrives, after chopping one of these stones up, i would say yes, probably treated and heated and safe to use turquoise...keep it upbeat and positive g? asking this kind of a question without bidding a single credit, adds a new dimension to put up or shut up.....i hope this helps....
it did not know it was naive to ask if real or not and i have done that many times and not bid,as i bid in the end.i do not think it should have resulted in a testy response.
thanks for asking in the first place, a dull boring response would have been as worthless as not asking at all; the people i acquired this necklace from are wondering why this type of jewelry is being taken as serious as pre-transistor made in Japan products; chinese gem artisans have a tradition that stands on its own merit, your question got a tart response maybe yet its an informative response, peeking through a keyhole at industrial gem infrastructure, lots of Listia members have a chance to consider and ponder...... a teenager over here had a birthday recently, she got a choice of either a sillver ring, a watch or a necklace of this type....she went for the necklace without the slightest hesitation whatsoever....let me ask you a question, once in a while we see athletes wearing gold necklaces out in the field, do you think they are wiser, more health conscious than ancient pharaohs? i'll try adding another picture to illustrate the point..thanks for following up the original question and comment, intuitively well done IMHO
please note: this type of a necklace is being sold at street fares, flea markets, bazaars for prices ranging from $25-$55, mostly by asian/american vendors who, in their asking price are firm, not to be confused with hsn and otheronline discounter products, which are likely as doctored and treated as these being auctioned if not more so....
keeping your rage subdued until the last few hours of the auction hmmmmm. sure looks like a variation of price fixing, or auction outcome rigging....your recent Listia activity shows little if any turquoise buy/sel activity yet you say you are a turquoise dealer?.....how amateurish of you? my concerns exploring possible exposure of breast cancer carcinogens by jewelry wearers irksome? reporting this concern to Listia relieves your apprehensions? how reprehensible of you, and an infringement of my free speech....
