1968 P and D US Mint Uncirculated Coin Set - This is one of the few mint sets that contains the 40% Silver Kennedy Half Dollar. Also the first year they made Mint sets after they had to stop in 1965-1967 because of a coin shortage.

1965-1967 Special Mint Sets were made but no proof coins were made and in these years the mint mark was omitted from all coins to keep collectors from holding on to one from each mint.

The 40% silver Kennedy Half Dollar was minted on from 1965 to 1970 and in 1970 only Proofs and Mint Sets had them. Today the Kennedy Half Dollar is made for collectors only (Mint and Proof Sets) and none been made for circulation since 2002.
