Description

The listing, L@@K! Size 7 Tanzanite, diamond, and sterling ring has ended.

This ring features genuine tanzanite, diamonds, and a sterling band. The center stone is a .43 carat oval Tanzanite and there are four .28 carat 2mm round tanzanites on each side. Two round white .01 carat diamonds accent the top and bottom of the ring. The receipt says the band is sterling, and it is stamped. The smaller tanzanites look to be channel mounted, and the large one is in a 4 prong setting. I don' t know if you would call it filigree or a heavy millgrain around the large stone and outlining the sides of the band. This is a very dainty size 7 ring. It is fashion jewelery. Suggested retail price on the website is $129.99, but I didn't pay that for it. The photos don't show the real color. They make the stones look bluer than they are. In real life it's a pale lilac color. This is a very pretty, feminine ring that's too big for me. Want to get what I have in it in Listia points so I can get something that fits me. FREE SHIPPING.

Hi, Pretty ring! I have a couple of questions/observations. I have had a genuine deep blue/purplish Tanzanite *3.2 carats of THE BEST color, as the lighter colors are the edges of the stone/rock, yet pretty) or over 10 yrs (in a custom 14KT ring) and I've NEVER heard of an "Egyptian Blue" Tanzanite. As the name implies, TANZANITE IS MINED EXCLUSIVELY IN TANZANIA.
Do you have an appraisal or receipt for this ring. I see you have a disclaimer, "I am not a jeweler and do not know the proper way to describe some things.", which is fine, but an appraisal and/or receipt would completely identify/describe "some things". Also, I see, "The band is stamped, but it is so tiny I can't read it, even with a magnifying glass. Would need a loupe, I guess", this would also be addressed by the aforementioned appraisal/receipt.
Finally, I have sterling, all karat weights of gold, as well as several colors and, of course, platinum (in fact, I have a ring w/genuine rubies, 18KT gold on platinum band ring, worth over $6000.00) and I have NEVER seen, nor heard of "sterling with platinum" used together, as the melting temp of each is vastly different.
I think it would be a very good idea to find out exactly what it is you have, get an appraisal and educate your bidders, for the happiness/satisfaction of all concerned.
I do hope you see this information as constructive, rather than critical and NOT BLOCK it. Thank you, watching intently. Kate :)

As I said before, and you mentioned, I am not a jeweler. That is not a disclaimer...I just wanted people to know that I don't know the technical words to use to describe jewelry. I do have a receipt that says the band is sterling. I wanted to inform people that the band is stamped, but that I can't verify what it says because it's too small for me to read. I think that the description from the website that I used was probably written by a non-English speaking person. I didn't think that the "Egyptian Blue" meant that it came from Egypt, but that was a trade name that company uses for that color. And I didn't think that the "sterling and platinum" meant that it was melted together, but that they were used together in forming the "filagree". This ring is not fine jewelry and does not merit the cost of an appraisal. It is just a pretty ring that does not fit me and I want to get what I have in it in points on Listia so I can get something else that does fit. I appreciate your comments and will reword the description in my own words to eliminate the possibility of confusion by those of you who are experts in the field. Thank you for your comments.

Wow, beautiful ring:) Already your fan and watching! The doggie in your profile pic looks just like my other dog. She is a lab/chow mix I think (we got her at the humane society) and she's a sweetheart!

Thanx. They really do look a lot alike, except that boomski (?) doesn't have all the gray hairs that mine does. Raven is a rescue, too. Vet thinks she's 90% lab and 10% pit. Really lab in her personality, though. We think she's about 11, so she's graying pretty fast, especially on her face. She's a certified therapy dog. Goes to library and kids read to her. Helps them develop their reading skills. Also goes to nursing homes and adult day care centers for Alzheimers patients. It's really fun seeing other Listians' pets on their profile pix. Good luck with my auction. Hope you win!
