The listing, antique brass WW1 trench lighter has ended.
from what i can find on the internet this is an antique brass WW1 trench lighter. please note that this MAY BE A REPLICA. i dont know much about them cuz i wasnt in ww1 :) but from what ive been reading the replicas are just as old as the originals. this lighter DOES spark very easily so i know the flint is good and that makes me believe it will work with lighter fluid. i didnt test it cuz i dont think i can ship it with lighter fluid in it. again...this is all info i read on the net. i am not an expert so with all that said...happy bidding
btw, if anyone finds more info on this like dates, replica or not, etc etc..i'd love to hear it. please post it here so all can see. I just want this posting to be as factual as I can get it so u all know what your bidding on...thanx.
ty for your response, that makes sense. i know they produced these lighters from ww1 to ww2 and everywhere in between. this has a good chance of being a replica but i'm still unsure. taiwan has always been taiwan, it was just given back from japan in 1945 <yes, i had to google taiwans history :) > and its still under debate to this day whether taiwan is its own country, so i guess the reason im still unsure is the fact...does taiwan have to be a "country" to produce goods. some of these ive seen are stamped michigan. hope this reply didnt sound sarcastic cuz its definately not my intention. i really do want more info on this cuz im very curious. if i had to vote now id lean towards replica, what makes it harder is that many of the replicas are just as old so i'm not sure how to find out
ok, thanks to another listian i am definately convinced that this is a replica. i appreciate all the info everyone has given me. i just want everyone to know what they are bidding on thanx again and God bless
very cool fanned and bidding!! are those screws or rivets? and zermenojulio how's the models coming ;)? you got me on the giant zippo let's who gets this one LOL?!
ty, those arent screws or rivets. they are holes in the brass so the flame breathes. when you pull the link at the bottom of the lighter the while inside slides down about an inch so that the wick is just inside the brass tube making it windless, and the cap automaticaly moves to the side
