Guanabana fruit is very rich in carbohydrates, especially, fructose. Apart from that, B vitamins, vitamin C, calcium and dietary fiber, are also present in it in moderate amounts. A single fruit with a weight of around 600 grams has 100 grams carbohydrates, 85 grams sugar, 6 grams protein, 21 grams dietary fiber and amounts to 400 calories. It is also said that guanabana has the ability to control the growth of cancer cells and eliminate them from the body. According to some studies, the chemicals in the fruit target cancer cells specifically and do not affect the healthy cells.
Away from its native area, there is some limited production as far north as southern Florida within USDA Zone 10; however, these are mostly garden plantings for local consumption.
