Ivy like vine that reaches 20 foot or more, has bright yellow blooms. It must have 140 to 200 or more frost free days for gourds to reach full maturity. Grows best in full sun. Young fruit can be eaten like a vegatable or leave them to grow to full maturity. Let them dry on the vine until they turn brown, remove outer skin , clean out seeds and you have a Luffa sponge. Great for cleaning and exfoliating your skin.

Im not really sure...I just remember reading somewhere in Asia they use it as a vegetable also. I think there real value is the sponge.
