Description

The listing, Recipe, Chocolate Gravy ~ A Southern (American) Tradition has ended.

This recipe came from my paternal grandmother. We would beg to spend the night at her house so that, in the morning, we could eat chocolate gravy drizzled over a hot, homemade buttered biscuit.
I will mail the recipe to anyone who bids or comments, fans or is watching. I love this recipe and know that you will too!

I'm from NC. My Mom use to make this for me when I was small. Now I make it for my grandchildren. M y Mother died when I was young. I don't have a recipe but would love to have a copy. I remembered what my mother used and learned to make it by trial and error. There are not a lot of people who know what chocolate gravy is. thanks for the memories.

OK, I will be sending this recipe in a private message if you have fanned, bid, won or just for watching. It doesn't seem fair to give it to everybody and the winner has to spend credits so the winner can ask for any kind of recipe as a special bonus. Please ask for just the general kind of recipe such as dessert, cake, candy, casserole, etc. If there is some special recipe you want I can see if I have it but no promises.

I filched that picture from the internet. It is just melted chocolate in the photo. The chocolate gravy is sort of like pudding or a pie filling but hot and de-licious!!

It is great! I love chocolate too. It is best over home made biscuits with a lot of butter melted in it first.

Yes, I am from Eastern Oklahoma. When I was in school, the cafeteria made chocolate gravy and biscuits for breakfast. I ran home and told my granny how delicious it was. I think I was around 9 or 10. She taught me. Been makin' it since. mmm. My husband is from CA and he thinks it is gross, but then he doesn't like chocolate. He likes regular sausage gravy on toast. I told him, "That is what you do when you don't have milk for the biscuits." Lol. I cannot imagine life without biscuits and gravy(ies) Gotta have the chocolate gravy for when you want a decadent breakfast as opposed to a savory one. : )

I don't like regular gravy, well maybe mushroom gravy over hamburger steaks. :)

jen5359 are you from the south also? I don't know where else it is eaten. My mother was from Washington state and she had never heard of it. My husband is from upstate New York and agrees with marywalters1848 that is sounds bad. "Disgusting" is his word for it. However he doesn't have my sweet tooth and has never tried it.
