The listing, Meadowlark (Meadowlark Lemon) of the Harlem Globetrotters' Fame -- AUTOGRAPHED!! has ended.
This is a book about Meadowlark Lemon of the Harlem Globetrotters. He was in our area recently and I had him autograph this book. (Can't really tell, but it says Meadowlark). The book is in good condition, book jacket is fair condition. From a smoke-free home. 221 pages.
This fast-paced autobiography traces the life of Lemon from poverty in Wilmington, N.C., to his rise as a Harlem Globetrotter and the "Clown Prince of Basketball." The book is filled with interesting anecdotes of his early childhood and life on the road as a Globetrotter. Lemon recounts how, as a child, he was in a movie theater and saw a newsreel of the Harlem Globetrotters. "I decided right then and there that is what I want to be." And behind the Meadowlark grin is some sadness. Lemon tells of his divorce, squabbles with the Globetrotters' management, and racial prejudice. The book includes an eight-page photo insert.
The former star player for the Harlem Globetrotters recounts how he got his start in basketball, and explains how Christian faith became an important part of his life.
