Description

The listing, 1864 Confederate States Civil War Bond Coupon Original 146 yrs old has ended.

Up for bids is this Confederate War Bond Coupon from the Feb. 17, 1864 Series . These were issued to raise funds for the war effort, when the North won, the bonds became worthless , this was a major hit to the South, not only did they lose the war, but many of them lost their savings because they put their money into the now worthless bonds, This is known as a Bond Coupon, it was attached to the actual bond these particular coupons are more historically important than most because they were signed personally with a stamp by Robert Tyler , Robert was the son of United states President John Tyler , John Tyler was the only Former President to be considered a sworn enemy of the United States Government, When he died there was no ceremony, it was completely ignored., You will receive the bond coupon pictured, it looks great , it is 146 years old , it was cut from the Bond much later , probably in the 1960's..... As always Free Shipping..

What do you mean by "it was cut from the Bond much later"?

This is a bond coupon , when a bond is issued it is big, and it has these coupons attached, the beare could cut these coupons off and turn them in for money as the bond matured, but that couldn't be done with these because the confederacy was disbanded before the bonds matured. So these bonds were worthless , Later on many dealers decided to cut the coupons off of the Bonds , this way they could sell the big nice bond for good $ and they could sell all of the coupons also, every bond had over 20 of these coupons attached... the reason why I stated that it was cut later, is because some people think the coupons would not have such sharp corners if it were really that old, But it does because the cut is somewhat modern. But the document itself is actually 146 years old...Thanks

This one stands out from the others I have collected and traded, it has great color, you can really read the big "$30" that is in the design., Someone is gonna get a nice one here :)

That's interesting and a very historical lesson! Thanks. I probably won't have enough points to bid as I checked out others and they went pretty high. Thanks again and good luck! I guess the "property room" comment was geared towards my first comment I re-entered. Kind of pompis remark from him.
