Yes, they are tall, columnar and have some spines, but not too prickly!

You can eat the fruit from this cactus. Do you have to do anything special to it first or can you eat the skin? I've never herd of these.

We have been enjoying the fruit. I do not eat the skin, it peels away easily and has a leathery consistency, so I have never been even tempted! And it has a unique flavor--a hint of strawberry, some kiwi, sweet but tart. Very seedy, though!
