These low, shrub like plants will bear fruit in one season. Ground Cherries are easy to grow and care for. Plants have delicate blooms and abundant fruit in papery husks. I will include instructions for growing your Ground Cherries and 25 seeds. I will also include my favorite recipe for Ground Cherry Pie!

how do you harvest seed from the plant after they grow, very interested in this

The fruits will fall off the plant when the husks have dried. Remove the fruit inside. whem I have several fruits I put them in my blender with about a cup of water. (you could just smash them.) Process on low speed for a few minutes. Add more water and pour off the debris. The viable seeds will sink to the bottom. Continue to rinse until the remaining seeds are clear. Pour them onto a paper plate and leave to dry completely. When dry store in a baggie or bottle. If you have one of those moisure inhibiters you get in medicine bottles drop it in. They really help protect your seeds against mildew in the case they weren't completely dry. Hope this helps.

I love to pop the ripe ones right into my mouth. They have a fruity taste and would do great in a salad I would think.
