The listing, THE LAST SIN EATER Christian Fiction BOOK Francine Rivers EXCELLENT has ended.
Up for auction is a paperback edition of "THE LAST SIN EATER", by Francine Rivers. This book fascinated me, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it!
Retail price was $13.99, and it was listed as Fiction/Christian. I was amazed to find out that there was actually a "sin eater" down through history...
Per the Wikipedia: "The term sin-eater refers to a person who, through ritual means, would take on by means of food and drink the sins of a household, often because of a recent death, thus absolving the soul and allowing that person to rest in peace. In the study of folklore sin-eating is considered a form of religious magic.
This ritual is said to have been practiced in parts of England and Scotland, and allegedly survived until the late 19th or early 20th century in Wales and the adjoining Welsh Marches of Shropshire and Herefordshire, as well as certain portions of Appalachia in America (documented in the Foxfire cultural history series)."
This might be the book for you! 324 pages with a few Discussion Pages in the back (came from a Christian bookstore and certainly would make an interesting discussion for any group!).
It's 5½" x 8¼", so a bit larger than a normal paperback. In excellent used condition.
I read some of the 120 reviews on Amazon, and this book rated almost 5 stars with every review!
