This is simple. If you are at a restaurant ( like Micky D's) you plug the unit into the usb connection on your computer and you can obtain the internet through wifi at that location. You don't have to pay for the internet connection but they would like for you to at least buy some food. Some places that have a wifi are now requireing you to buy some thing or leave as you may be taking up space that paying customers need. If you are at home you will need an internet supplier and their modem, to which you add a wireless router, which will pick up the signal from your computer and then transmits and receives the signal for use by your computer. You pay something either way.
Yea this is so you can get internet to a computer without having to use a wired connection. You still need to have internet You plug this into your computer that has a wired connection and if you have computers or a laptop you could use this like a wireless router it will create a wireless signal for your house without having a wireless router so bottom line its a usb wireless router its creates wifi from a wired connection
If I plug this in my Panasonic bluray DVD player "BD Live" enabled in the USB port, will it connect to my WiFi router at home? The DVD player keeps asking for activation code and I have no clue!
For those who don't know, this would be for a computer to hook to a wireless router to get internet access. It plugs into a USB port. Windows 7 (and possibly vista as well) should have the drivers already ready to go, but if it doesn't or you don't use Windows 7 you can get drivers from the linksys website here: http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/adapters/WUSB54GSC/download
If the link gets removed, go to the linksys website, in the search box on the website type in WUSB54GSC and click the first one that says Downloads (second link in list). Then select Version 2.0 in the dropdown for "hardware version" and it will give you a link to the driver.
