Description

The listing, Confederate Soldiers, 1861-1865 military records on CD Rom has ended.

Family Tree Maker's Family Archives CD #119: military records of Confederate Soldiers, 1861-1865.

This CD contains the complete contents of National Archives microfilm roll number M918, Register of Confederate Soldiers, Sailors, and Citizens Who Died in Federal Prisons and Military Hospitals in the North, 1861-1865. The collection includes the names of approximately 25,000 individuals which are indexed for convenience and easy searching. After the Civil War, federal law did not provide for the burial or marking of graves for Confederate soldiers who died in the North. At the turn of the century, however, Confederate veterans' groups convinced the government to pass a statute that provided for the appropriate markings of these graves.

Requires Windows and the Family Tree Maker program OR the free Family Archive Viewer (I'll be happy to give you the URL of the site to download the viewer if you don't already have it.)

A valuable resource for anyone interested in genealogy.

Disk in perfect condition. Mailed with front and back inserts but NOT in jewel case.

I have a few genealogy magazines I may be listing, but that's about all. It's a great hobby -- I've been doing my own family tree and found out so many fascinating things! I even did a webpage about my ancestors and met a lot of cousins and distant relatives.

I set up www.BighamFamilyTree.com for info on my own family. I will say that it *can* be expensive -- I belong to all the genealogy sites plus I've had to pay for books and special records. You will be back on your feet one day soon and things WILL get better for you financially. NEVER lose hope!
