I wouldn't think that you could, it isn't that heavy duty and the scale part itself is a small area....it doesn't say anything about using for food so I am really not sure.

I really think that would depend on what type of item...a small one, yes, but say a bottle of perfume or something heavier, I don't really know.

The website where it was purchased does state that it will weigh mail but I don't think the surface is large enough to hold a box. Thank you for asking, they are good questions!

You might be able to weigh very small boxes or mailing envelopes however I am not absolutely sure of this.The diameter of the weighing area is not very large.TY and f/b.
