George T. Morgan was trained at the Royal Mint in London. He submitted the winning design to the US Mint for this silver dollar featuring a model named Anna Williams.His "M" is both the front and back of the coin.
This cartwheel appears to be in as good a condition as the day it was stamped out.
In 1918 the Pittman Act authorized the melting of 270+ million Silver Dollars. This one of the 12 million minted at San Fransico survived. Records of which years were melted is unknown.
