The listing, Old Vintage US $1 Franklin Stamp from 1917 has ended.
Here's another vintage US stamp-- it's a $1.00 brown with a portrait of Benjamin Franklin, as best I can tell, Scott number 518 from 1917, although I am NOT an expert on US stamps. It is in used condition-- not perfect, but nice for an item so old-- no obvious faults I can see. This is a very high value stamp for it's time-- $1.00 in 1917 is the equivalent of $19.45 in today's dollars, adjusted for inflation!
Here's the bigger scoop: My mom and stepdad both passed away over the past couple of years, and I've been going through some of their old stuff-- they were both dedicated "savers" of everything. In some ways, I guess they were borderline "hoarders." My stepdad collected stamps, and this is from his collection-- although it's more like a giant pile of messy album pages and envelopes.
I think people should have fun bidding on stuff-- that's what auctions are all about! So the starting bids for my stuff will always be is FIVE credits, and we go from there, no matter HOW valuable something might be.
