Description

The listing, Working 1909 Elgin pocket watch has ended.

This watch was the second in my collection and was not working when I got it. Just had a watchmaker by me fix it up. He cleaned it up replaced the crystal, main spring, and a few other odds and ends. It a 1909 elgin hunter 25 year guaranteed j boss keystone watch case with very little wear. It is engraved with a name and date. The movement looks brand new, serial # 13593234, believe it is a 7 jewel, no cracks in the porcelain paid over $300 to get it working again.

The watchmaker did a awesome job on the watch. It look and works like almost new when I got it back from them; which is good for over 100 year old watch. I need to make room for new ones.

According to the serial #, it was actually made in 1908. And if you collect pocket watches, I would think that you would know for certain how many jewels it had...instead of "believe it is a 7 jewel". What size is it? Men's or Women's? Doesn't look like the movement and case are original to each other.

I am more of the independ named ones, I don't really deal with Elgin. I was told it could have been made between 1908-1909. The watchmaker said jugding by the date engraved on it it's more then likely from 1909. I was not told how many jewels it have but it was relatively cheap to have the work done it. Just by dealing with my other ones it was a small price to pay to have it fixed. A lot of the time that's how you bought them, pick a movement then the case that you liked to go with it. It is a men's hunter watch, women's watchs were much smaller.

Does it come with a chain?

No it does not. Real chains are not cheap now a days and a lot of people did not buy them for the lower end pocket watchs at the time.

im confused... you said you spent 300 to get this watch working again but then you said in a comment "I was not told how many jewels it have but it was relatively cheap to have the work done it."... Did it cost 300 to fix or was it cheap to get it fixed?
Sep 15th, 2012 at 4:11:10 AM PDT by
Original
300 is cheap compared to all the watchs have paid to get work done too. I have one I that is 18k solid, 25 jewel i paid 1500 to get fixed.
