If you mark on the package that it is hand stampable, the post office will do everything by hand and NOT run it through the machines. This will help protect it. They only charge me .20 cents for this, and sometimes they don't charge anything. Otherwise, they will run it through and those machines flatten everything. I think it is well worth .20 cents.
