The listing, Vintage 925 Garnet Ring Size 6 has ended.
This is a lovely ring my great grandma left to me as stated in another auction of mine it's just not my style. It's set with a garnet. I'm not sure what the cut would be. It's a flat top round stone. And I took a second photo of the inside of then band it's a little worn but clearly marked 925 :)
Hope to get some pretty good bids in. This is a vintage ring :)
Questions & Comments
Beautiful ring, already a fan. watching and bidding.
Love it! Thought I'd share why: I found out I was pregnant in early January (2010), and miscarried at the end of the month. I felt like January was the only sliver of time I had to dream big dreams for that baby and feel close. Garnet is January's birthstone, and I'm not sure that 'birthstone' is appropriate, but since January was all we had in a way, I'd had my eye out for a garnet piece to wear to memorialze that little one and feel just a litte close, and this one is lovely (and will fit; ring fingers are 5's, but it will work on a middle one). I'll be bidding soon, and promise deeply that if I win, it will cetianly be something I treasure....especially seeing that it was from a family member of yours, I thought it might give you peace to know that if I end up the high bidder (hoping!), it will continue to be special to its new wearer. :-) Thanks for putting it up here.
thats such a beautiful thought. Thank you so much for sharing. I too have miscarried, twice. I lost my job, had just moved into a new apartment and had only been dating my boyfriend for 5 months when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter. I didnt know what I was gonna do but I knew that what ever was to come was for a reason. She was born in October, the worst month for me in years. Now I love October because its her birth month... finally I had something beautiful to share in October. So I understand where you are coming from.
I hope you win. That would be wonderful. but if not I do have one more piece. I am debating on putting it up but I will see how this auctions goes and decide then. Best of luck!
I just realized something while reading your comments. Well 1st of all my birthstone is Garnet but I Am also 5 months pregnant right now so my son & I will share a birthstone, I haven't be too partial to wearing my birthstone since I had kids but now I can wear Garnet again & it will hv a whole new meaning. Love this ring, it really is pretty. I had one very similar that my mom had gotten me years ago & it disappeared one day. Watching & hopefully bidding :-)
Mine's opal, as is my hubby's, and then my two sons' are Peridot and whatever November's is (I've seen conficting data...one is Topaz; I forget the other). I think the baby I miscarried would've been due in August (same as my eldest), but I can't even be sure of that; even if I knew for absoloute sure how far along I was, my kids tend to be born too early to bank on the due date birthstone; eldest was due late Aug, born early Aug, second was due Dec 17th, born Nov. 27th, so there's a sizable chance that even had this one been due in, say, August, the bithstone would've ended up being July's. I'd love to someday have a ring made that incorporates a large opal for Hubby and I, and is garnished with Peridot and topaz (?) to represent our sons, but I still want a little something seperate to hold on to the one I lost and feel close, and since a 'birthstone" is neither exactly determinable or quite appropriate, a garnet seems fitting because January was the closest time we had. If I don't win this one, I'll surely find another something that's perfect, but I sure do like this one! :-)
good luck. I feel the same way. I have a beautiful opal ring that represents my daughter, and I barely use it. but its a treasure. She was supposed to be due sept 28th but stayed in my tummy an extra 5 days... babies can be fickle that way =]
It is hard to see the color of the stone, had I seen this auction earlier, I would have asked you to show a better photo of the color coming through the stone!!! Thank you, Beautiful!!
@eyeonsparrow, I had 3 miscarriages, & every time I did, about 6-9 months later I got pregnant w/all 3 of my kids. So there might be a huge light at the end of the tunnel, & while miscarriges are heartbreaking, they are also a good thing in that they paved the way for me to actually carry a pregnancy. very strange but then again I was told I could never have kids. Well I sure proved the doctors wrong.lol In fact I found out I was pregnant w/my son on the same day that the 1st baby would have been born. strange how things work sometimes good luck to you :-)
