In a remote space observatory in the Sierra Nevada mountains an extraterrestrial signal has been received. Contact has been made. A powerful group rushes to the observatory to exploit the signal and harness its incredible power. Chief among them is Colonel David Garrett (Louis Gossett,Jr.) who has his own dark plans. But when they arrive, the observatory is deserted and destroyed. With a fierce storm moving in, the group is cut off from the world and becomes easy prey for whatever is awaiting them. Caught in the middle of the deadly mystery is computer expert Jack Jones (Judd Nelson). With everyone ready to bribe, seduce or even kill for the signal, and Jack the only one who can relay it, Jack quickly becomes a wanted man. But why is this signal so special?
