Description

The listing, ***********JIM MORRISON************ has ended.

Jim morrison (the doors) 10 inch plaster bust. ok here's the history on this piece.
the artist made only three, of these busts. he kept one, i have one. and one is owned by a famous actor. i will only reveal the name of the actor, to the winner of this auction. i know for a fact, that the mold was destroyed immediately, guaranteeing, that these are the only three in exsistance, if in fact all three still exsist!!!! i don't know if morrison actually sat for this bust or not, but the bust is identical, and the detail is phenominal. i beleive it is made of plaster, it has never been painted or coated with anything, it is, exactly as the artist left it. it weighs approx. 10 pounds, and has some natural age to it, so it is not perfectly white. but cleaning it would destroy the authenticity of it. shipping for this item will be $10.20, the price of a med, flat rate shipping box. i will consider free shipping if the bids go high enough. as i said, the winner will get the name of the actor who owns, the third bust!!!! not that it really matters, but it is kinda cool, knowing who owns it.!!

I can't believe you would auction off something like this! This has GOT to be worth a fortune!
Jul 26th, 2010 at 7:39:46 PM PDT by
Original
Well, its really only worth what someone is willing to pay. i would rather someone that really likes it have it, than someone who can show off what they bought.

At the time I received it, it was more of a novelty. I really wish I had gotten more information as to when where and who.

This is a young bust of Morrison, so I would think it was done , when Morrison was younger.

Not exactly, Ive had it for 28 years. But I have no idea how long the artist had it before I got it.
BTW the french government is considering re-opening the morrison case. There are witnesses (including the doctor who was present at the time of morrisons death) who say that Morrison did not die in his Paris apt, but in fact died at a club called the Circus, frequented by, the stones, the beatles etc.... He was found in a stall in the bathroom, after purchasing heroin from two well known dealers. After discovering the body. A doctor at the club, declared Jim dead, the two drug dealers, stated that Morrison was fine, he just passed out, and took Morrison from the club, and deposited His body in the bathtub of his Paris Apt. The owner of the club swore the only people, that new the truth to secrecy, stating there was nothing that could have been done for Jim, and he wanted to avoid a club scandal. In attendance at the club that was evening was Marianne Faithful, who immediately, left Paris, and never spoke about it to anyone.

I really wish I did, when it was given to me, it was, hey my brother wants you to have this, he knows you like the doors, he made three, hes keeping one , and giving one to __________________. I asked if I could get another one, and she told me he broke the mold because he couldn't get them perfect. At a later date, I personally saw the destroyed mold.

oops almost forgot, the bust does fit in a FR box, but I am going to ship un a larger box. so that I can pack with peanuts. The usps, is not known for handling packages with care. I will probably insure it also, although it cannot be replaced if damaged. I will let the winner decide if they want to use a different method of shipment.
Jul 25th, 2010 at 4:47:27 PM PDT by

I don't think the FR Medium box is large enough for a 10" item.

BTW, I was in Paris in 1999, and the sculpture at his tomb (very similar to this) you see at the end of the movie was stolen! It's now just a marble cube. There was still a *ton* of graffiti on the surrounding headstones (which didn't make those families happy).

Most people don't know that you only RENT a spot in Pere Lachaise Cemetery for 30 years, then you have to do something else with the body! In the past, the body was simply buried w/o a coffin, so in 30 years, there would be only bones! The bones were removed and placed in one of Paris' ossuaries ("bone houses" in Latin). The scene in Shakespeare's "Hamlet" ("Alas, poor Yorick!") is of the gravedigger removing the old bones to make room for a new body!

Pere Lachaise is a great place to see when in Paris! You can spend all day there! Lots of people go for small picnics, as it's a quiet area in the middle of Paris! You can see where all the gay men has loaded up on their lipstick to kiss the tomb of Oscar Wilde! And, of course, you can stop by and visit Jim! There was a cop standing by to keep people from making a mess when I was there, and I suspect they still keep one on duty!

I guarantee this is not the stolen sculpture lol. his grave is still one of the most visited. Its estimated that over a million people a year visit the site. Thanks for the info, some I didn't know. :)

I'm a big doors fan as is hubby. We have an original movie poster from the doors w/ the actual mezannine frame from the theater! LOL! (Don't ask how i got it i can't tell) but will be watching this one for sure! Love Jim and the Doors and can't wait to find out who owns the remaining bust! Is there a certificate of authenticity?! thank you
Jul 25th, 2010 at 10:54:47 AM PDT by
Original
There is no certificate. The artist actually made this for himself, but when he fired it, it kept sticking to the kiln. After three attempts, he gave up, that's when he destrayed the mold. Now I know he signed it, but he does it in such a way, that its very hard to find., but thats it sorry.
