Full sun. I grow in a container. Incidentally I always give extra seeds. Dahlias need to be thoroughly watered 1x/week. They are also heavy feeders so fertilize with a week solution about every 3rd watering.
Seeds will produce tubers the first year. Dahlias need to be dug if you are in any zone that gets cold weather. You can pinch back buds to promote very large flowers.
