it's a B router so if the connection you're trying to connect to is G it won't work

Most people run their routers in a b/g configuration anyways as most routers come set up that way from the factory and most people dont bother changing it to just G (there is no benefit in changing it anyways) so more than likely this will not be an issue.
I dont know anyone that that strictly uses G in fact alot of people, myself included, have gone to the newer N standard. (which is why I wont be needing this little gem.)

Yeah didn't think about that. I too would be interested in using it as an access point for xbox, just hope that the motels I come across are also set up for B. Do the newer N routers still broadcast in B/G/N ?

Both of my N routers run in whats called "Mixed" mode which is B/G/N. The only standard that isnt used anymore and has been phased out by most router manufacturers is A. As for hotels...I have only been in two hotels in the last couple years but both of them were running B/G connections.

Just as a side note: I have flipped through the users manual and it does explain fairly well how to use this product in the differant modes and explains how to connect and xbox or playstation. From my personal experiance with Asus - if you have any problems using this device their tech support is very good, FREE and US based in most cases.

As long as you have an existing Wireless broadband connection in your house, this should do the trick.

For what you're trying to do you would also need a wireless router. This is just an access point that you can use to connect to your wireless router, then connect to the xbox via the Ethernet port on the device. if your Xbox already has the wireless adapter on it you can plug this device into an ethernet port (on your wall/modem/hub) then create a wireless connection for your xbox. I hope that's not too confusing :)

Do u happen to know how to tell if my xbox has the wireless adapter? All I know is I bought it new a couple mths ago. Its probably useless and wasting your time cuz I know nothing about this thing. Thanks so much for your help. I will try to relay the msg to my husband and see if he will check for me and see if it come with the wireles adapter. thanks again- Robyn

The Wireless adapter doesnt come witih a New Xbox, its an additional ~$75 or so and plugs into the back of the Xbox.
