Description
The listing, 1893 "V" Nickel has ended.
Pictures a bit blurry had to use mobile phone. The date on the coin is 1893. I would rate the coin to be in "fair" condition, the backside of coin is scuffed. Great however for any collection.
Questions & Comments
Sure. I found it on a supermarket floor. Threw it in with the rest of my change, then spotted it one day. I'm not an expert on coins, but I found it to me be neat. The 1913 sold in 1999 for $1,485,000. This famous coin is one of just five produced "after hours" by an employee of the United States Mint using the old Liberty head--or "V" nickel--dies. It was made in 1913, the year in which the Buffalo, or Indian-head, nickel was first introduced and the old "V" nickel officially retired. The five "V" nickels of 1913 have become much-sought-after collectors' items and are considered to be in the top 10 of famous U.S. coins. Little history :)
