I don't know...good question though. It doesn't say on the unopened package and I don't want to open it after I have advertised it as NIP. It feels heavy enough to hold a battery. I suspect (don't really know ) that it does.... because of the weight.....but I can't swear to that. ANother thing it tells you "HOW TO REPLACE BATTERIES".......they might be saying it has batteries or why wouldn't they tell you "HOW TO LOAD THE BATTEries" . .......Sorry for my NON-RESPONSIVE answer.
