its okay, 1000 credits is equal to a dollar, most $5 gift cards go for 5000 and $10 10000 credits and so on and so forth. you can find the current rate by going to the rewards store (link on the top of the page) and you will see the amazon gift cards priced according to this rate. as another piece of advice, NEVER, EVER buy credits from listia, their upcharge rates are ridiculous. for example to buy a $50 amazon gift card (currently listed at 50,000 credits) from them you would have to spend $167 to get 50,000 credits. so just a little bit of an upcharge. Also i recommend not using a Get it Now or GIN option since listia again charges a ridiculous fee to set one up. also only if your auction item is worth less than 2,000 credits do not pay for a premium auction, there are so many people who pay for a premium auction (fee is around 2,000) credits and their item only sells for a few 100 credits, thus they are loosing money. sorry for the huge note, but i always like give newbies advice, there are lots of people on the site who honestly think that buying credits is completely fine and go off of that ratio scale, which means that people who do know the right ratio get them for cheap and then resell them for the correct amount. i saw someone win a dress for 100 credits ($0.10) and then the seller had offered free shipping so the seller paid $8 to ship to winner, winner went ahead and relisted got 30,000 credits and charged $15 to ship. that is an extreme case but it does happen. if you have any questions feel free to ask :)

Thanks- I had no clue there was a dollar equivelancy - I wondered how people figured bids....I could not even figure how to start mine at more than 100. Kinda confusing..

sadly beginners cannot start their bid higher than 100, once you reach a certain level you will be able to go up to 100,000 credits. i recommend listing smaller things until you get a higher experience level and can go higher. my sister did silly bands for the first few weeks and now has a higher limit.
