Description

The listing, Ceramic Replica of McGuffey's First Eclectic Reader has ended.

I am auctioning off this ceramic collectible McGuffey's First Eclectic Reader. The black and white pic is one of his books I copied from Wiki.....and so is the information below. I have no clue how old this is except I know it is old because of a little crazing. I have no clue why the hole in front or back but it is a very neat piece. Enjoy the education that follows................McGuffey Readers were a series of graded primers. It is estimated that at least 120 million copies of McGuffey's Readers were sold between 1836 and 1960, placing its sales in a category with the Bible and Webster's Dictionary. No other textbook bearing a single person's name has come close to that mark. McGuffey was recommended for the job by Harriet Beecher Stowe, a longtime friend.
