Fairly common trick with most Motorola androids, as well as some other manufacturers. At least you should get quite a bit of credits for it. If I had more, I would be bidding.

You can't get past the activation screen without activating the phone. It's reset to the original state, as if you just walked into Verizon and purchased it.

I think they mean that you need to verify yourself. :) you can verify yourself by linking your facebook/twitter account, phone number, etc.

Yes, I'm the only owner. It works great. I used it for less than a year, I switched to the iPhone when my contract renewal came up. Ive reset the phone, when its powered on, it boots to the activation screen.
