The listing, Vintage, Kitsch, Collectible Salt and Pepper Shakers has ended.

These two shakers have puzzled me. I have searched all over the web and found only one of these granny shakers, and none of the butler type fellow. I'm not really sure how old they are but if I had to guess I'd say mid 50s/60s.

They both show some wear, but, they are just so unique that I think they're cool and fun. The butler has a complete stopper, the granny has a small piece of cork that would need to be replaced if you wanted to use them. It may hold, but I haven't tested it to find out for certain.

Granny stands 2 3/4" tall, 1 1/2"wide
Butler stands 3" tall, 1 1/4" wide

While not exactly politically correct, I think these shakers would show nicely in a collection, in a shadow box, or you could use them. They would need to be washed prior to use. Very KITSCH!

I saw the granny listed by herself on another site for 10.00.

Perfect for those that collect shakers!!

Granny has a grandpa that goes with her. He has a shotgun in his arms and a pipe in his mouth. I have the set. They are from the 50's

There is the set on ebay of the grandpa and grandma sitting outside a little house. it is selling for $18.00.

Thank you for that information. That explains Granny but as of yet I've not been able to find the gentleman shaker. I do think he is a bit more rare.
