Delicious on ice cream, or in iced coffee. Grows wild in & is native to Texas, Arizona & Mexico. Birds consume Tepin peppers & disperse seeds in the wild, but don't feel ‘heat’ like mammals. Ancient Chiltepin is called the “mother of all peppers,” & is thought oldest of Capsicum annum species. Tepin is from Nahuatl language of Aztecs, means “flea” because of small size. Round to oval fruits only 3/8” wide. Confused w/ Pequin that is small oval w/ a point. Tepins grow on 36” tall plants & have extreme heat. Peppers are perennials. If plant survives winter without freezing, shrub can get very large. Capsicum annuum (120 days). Super Hot. Scoville Heat Units 50,000 - 100,000
