That is a good question. When PlayStation 2 was first introduced it was thicker and much more bulky than the more recent Slim version. The slim has all the capabilities of the larger version with a more stylish practical look.

Can you please let me know if it has region coding or not? I have some newer games that I can't play on my older PS2 slim because of that....it has to be manufactured after 2005 to not have it.

Guitar Hero I, II, III, 5, Metallica, Warriors of Rock, Smash Hits,
Rock band, Rock band 2, and 3, Country track Pack, Metal Track pack, AC/DC track pack, I think you get the point. My son used it to play several SMACKDOWN vs. RAW games as well
